Gathering Storm: A Time to Mourn

Necromancers? Diseased townsfolk?  Myserious Mages?  Drunk Dwarves?

It must be Warhammer night!

In our last few sessions (not posted) the PCs attended the trial of the Holtz family and Kiela Cobblepot, nefarious kidnappers and murderers of Stromdorf. After being attacked that night by the newly-risen undead corpses of the convicted (and hung) defendants, Burgomeister Alder finally requested an audience with the party.

Seems there must be a Necromancer about, what with zombies marching right into town and all.  So the burgomeister asked the party to go get Brother Grabbe, the nearby graveyard caretaker and local Priest of Morr.

CabinCon10.2 Presents: Night of the Walking Dead

Night begins to settle over the swamp, cloaking the dense undergrowth in darkness and turning the water's surface to black. With it comes a clinging, creeping fog, rising from the water like a spectral steam. The fog surrounds you, its dampness caressing you like cold, dead hands. The swamp seems to retreat from the mists, its sights and sounds disappearing into some unseen distance. All that remains visible is the cold, choking fog. Even your companions seem far away. For a moment, everything is quiet. What few sounds you can hear are amplified by the surrounding mists: your own breathing, your beating heart. Then the fog begins to dissipate, fading away as quickly as it appeared, leaving you and your companions alone in the dismal swamp. A sign sticks crookedly from the mire, reading “Marais D’Tarascon, 5 miles” and pointing down the swampy river.

Star Wars Part One: The Black Sun Warehouse

You are in a Corellian cantina of Nar Shadda. It is night and the usual unsavory characters are present, loud music distorting the air. Smoke from numerous death sticks permeates your nostrils, but the glowing drinks at your hand keeps your senses dulled to the poison lurking in the room.

Throughout the night, among a host of many different races, you see a cloaked woman, dark haired but unexpectedly nice looking wandering around the bar. Eventually, one-by-one you catch eyes with her, a hint of familiarity flashing through her eyes. She motions for you to join her at her table.

GenCon 2010 Breakdown!

Well, I just regained consciousness from my GenCon recovery phase, and yes I've been going to work this week, and I thought I'd update the ol' vorpalchainsword with how the Con was.

To sum up: It was awesome.

GenCon re-discovery!

---

So in anticipation of heading out to GenCon2010 for five straight days of gaming exuberance, I was pulling out last year's badge holder and stuff and came across a couple of character sheets from last year's GenCon epic adventures.

The particularly interesting thing about these two character sheets is that both of these games were DM'd by our very own Brando, who's posting his current Dark Heresy campaign on the Vorpal Chainsword!

Barbarians and Priests

---
OK, I'm going to change the format of my posts a bit. This one will be out of order for my campaign. I don't feel that gaming should be about the rolls and character sheets, but more of a social event. I love co-telling stories with my players, but I also love eating and drinking and being a glutton and cracking wise.

So last Friday, I cleaned my nerdroom, got out my gridboard and vis-a-vis pens, and prepped my food and drinks. For beers I chilled some Bell's Porter, and home brew Scottish Ale.

And nearly every time I game, I make spicy chicken wraps for my players. These are from last Friday.

There's cream cheese and jallups in there. I can give you the recepie if you want.

The Gathering Storm part III: The Hills have Hooves

---
"The mountains that ring three sids of the natural lands of the Empire are like walls of a stout castle.  These days, however, those walls are so thinly manned that the castle looks set to fall."
- Albert Kornhammer, Priest of Sigmar

This week, our exhausted team of adventurers journeyed further into the dangerous Oberslecht swamplands...
